Overheard by one of the Marshalls this AM:

Kid: "Man, she's tight." (not in a good sense)
Mom: "Yeah, just be glad she's not your PO!"

(Man, I love being a hard ass sometimes.)

Gray pants, social networking, new websites, and stuff.

1. Apparently, I am addicted to purchasing gray slacks. I don't really know how the switch came out - I used to own a million pairs of black pants. Not so much anymore. Somehow, I have ended up with 3 pairs of gray slacks and one pair of navy slacks with grey stripes. Weird.

2. After FINALLY getting home last night around 7:45, I decided I needed some wine. After the first bottle Josh and I got to talking about his iPhone and the fact that there is a new application for facebook for it and he decided that even as hateful as he is about social networking sites, he might just give it a try to see what how the application works (there's a web developer for ya!). In exchange, he said I need to sign up for Twitter. So I did. I don't know how much you know about Twitter, but it's basically a way to let everyone know what you're doing throughout every second of the day. And it's kind of addicting. Josh has yet to sign up for facebook. I explained that it is very important because when he signs up I can change my status from simply "in a relationship" to "in a relationship with Josh McD." See? Important.

3. The marketing agency that Josh works for has a new site and it's cool! www.drakecooper.com . They are even offering a pro-bono deal for non-profits....you should check it out.

4. I have a crap-load of work to do for work in the next few weeks. The good news is that I get to forget about all of that in about 24 hours. Yessssssssssssssssssss.

I feel like I'm good at my job.

And what I mean by that is that I finally feel like I've made a difference somewhere. I'll briefly explain, without the details. This kid's relative called me yesterday really concerned about the kid in school, etc. and wanted a referral to a tutoring program or something that might help the kid out. The only thing I could think of that might work is this religious program that offers services for all sorts of kids from different backgrounds and they provide transportation. Anyway, I (ever so lightly, as this is a gov't agency I work for) explained the program and mentioned the religious base and gave the relative the contact information.

The relative called me tonight to thank me for the referral to the program and to let me know that he called the place and the kid is going to transfer there for school. And I did this referral without staffing the case with anyone and without hesitation and I'm proud of myself.

That's all.

I'm working late tonight (yeah...working...) so I can go to SAN FRANCISCO on Friday afternoon with Josh and Claire and Mike!!! Can't wait.

Hearing "Stars"

The band "Stars" has sucked me into some type of trance and I can't pull myself out. A co-worker gave me a copy of "Set yourself on fire" last week to listen to in my office and I've now purchased 3 of their 4 albums. And I've been making Josh listen to it too because I love them so much. You should check them out too. A-MAZ-ING.

Stars

On a completely different note, I took Brooke and the 6-year-old neighbor to see the Hannah Montana 3-D movie last night. It's pretty fun to see little girls get excited about stuff like that. I was intrigued by the number of dads there with their daughters. Really, I think the majority of the theater was stuff with men and little 8-year-old girls. I guess I can't decide if that's cute or gross! Ohhhh, ok, probably cute.

We bought brooke a hermit crab. It has an effing pumpkin painted on it and she named it herbie. Josh and i call it jack. Kind of gross but better than a cat!

I want to Barack your world...

I am amazed at Boise, Idaho. I honestly didn't think 14,000 people would show up at the Taco Bell Arena today to see Barack Obama, especially since the media suggested arriving at 7:00 am for the 8:30 rally. Since the organizers only expected 8,000 the black back-drops had to be removed to be sure the folks sitting BEHIND the stage could see SOMETHING. I haven't sat in the nose-bleed section at the Arena since I was 11 years old and attending the New Kids on the Block concert in 6th grade. BUT, it was worth it! Ok, ok, Obama may have said "Iowa" a few times in place of "Idaho", but he recovered quickly and with a joke, no less. Who can blame him? The man is super busy flying in and out of places like Boise and Minneapolis all in one day. And no presidential candidate has been to Idaho to campaign since....well....I'm not sure any of them have....ever. I really don't have much to say about the actual speech, other than the fact that I've known for a long time that I like his views, actions, and ideas and today just confirmed all of that.

Obama!
